AP Literature and Composition Test Prep

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

AP Literature and Composition Test Prep prepares students to earn college credit by mastering close reading, literary analysis, and AP-style essay writing. Students learn to interpret poetry and prose, identify author techniques, and build clear, persuasive arguments. Through live instruction, small-group practice, and personalized feedback, students improve speed, depth, and accuracy in literary writing while developing college-level analytical skills.


  • Duration: 10 weeks, 2 hours per week

  • Target Students: Students who are taking AP Lit or preparing to sit for the exam on May 6th 2026.

  • Small Group: <6 Students

  • Time Slots:

    • Monday: 6-8pm (Online) 2/23-5/4

    • Sat: 10:30-12:30pm (In person) 2/21-5/2

  • Key Objectives:

    • Develop strategy for achieving an overall score of 4 or 5.

    • Review and practice crafting strong analytical arguments.

    • Ensure reliable performance on poetry and prose response questions. 

    • Develop approaches for taking clear, compelling positions that respond to free-response prompts.

    • Take practice tests with individual evaluation and counseling.

Our Instructor

Ms. Sarah Clayton

Sarah Clayton is a former journalist and seasoned educator with over 20 years' experience, helping students excel in academic writing. She provides expert instruction in critical reading, analytical writing, and problem-solving strategies, ensuring students perform at their highest potential.

Sarah employs Socratic teaching methods to ensure student engagement and identify the degree of knowledge and skill students already possess. She then tailors instruction to reinforce strengths and address the individual needs of her students. She is very experienced at breaking down complex subjects into easily understandable instruction. Through these strategies, she builds student confidence and seeds creativity. With a Ph.D. from the University of Washington and years of experience in education and journalism, she provides students with the skills they need to excel academically and gain admission to the nation’s most prestigious institutions.
