AP English Language and Composition Test Prep
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
AP Lang Test Prep prepares students to earn college credit on the AP Language and Composition Exam. Students will improve fluency in identifying the purpose of texts and analyzing the strategies authors employ to achieve their goals, become adept at integrating multiple sources in support of their positions, and learn strategies for effective argumentation. Through regular practice, students will learn to write more quickly while increasing the depth of their arguments. Students will develop the ability to craft compelling arguments, refine analytical reasoning and expression while mastering critical academic writing skills. This will enable students to build greater sophistication into their argumentation. This course fosters not just academic growth but a clear introduction into the expectations of college students.
Duration: 10 weeks, 2 hours per week
Target Students: Students who are taking AP English Language & Composition or preparing to sit for the AP Language exam on May 13th 2026.

Tuesday: 6-8pm (Online)
Sat: 10:30-12:30pm (In person)

Ms. Tiah Schindelheim Rodriguez
What happens with you cross an aspiring microbiologist with a music enthusiast with a Classical education? You get an AP Language and Composition educator who can inspire a love of language while building students’ confidence in linguistic pattern recognition and argumentative construction.
Drawing on her 20 years of teaching as a high school English instructor, she aims to deliver tailored instruction that can transcend the classroom. Having instructed a broad spectrum of English-language classes and activities, including UW in the High School Classroom, AP English Language, AP English Literature, student newspaper, core 9-12 English classes, ELL/ESL courses, and college test prep, Ms. Tiah has a wealth of content expertise, instructional strategies, and innovative approaches to help her students soar to the highest octaves of achievement.
Ms. Tiah ensures her students feel supported and challenged when it comes to content. Her instruction focuses on student growth in content-specific knowledge, analytic reasoning, critical thinking, line of reasoning, and rhetorical strategies to boost scores on both the Multiple Choice and Free Response Essay Questions. It is her goal not just to teach content, but to guide students through rhetorical and Socratic instruction to become keenly thoughtful and successful individuals.
