Why It Matters

The choices start earlier than most families realize

Academic planning begins long before college applications. Every course selection, every semester, and every academic decision quietly shapes the opportunities that will be available years later.

Course Rigor

Selective colleges look at how challenging a student's courses are — not just the grades earned.

GPA Trajectory

A strong, upward GPA tells a story of growth. Early planning keeps it on track.

Academic Balance

Rigor matters — but so does well-being. The right load challenges without overwhelming.

Questions Parents Ask

Academic Strategy FAQ

How early should we start academic planning?
The earlier the better — ideally in middle school or early high school, when course choices still have room to shape the four-year arc. That said, it's never too late; we meet students wherever they are and build the strongest plan from that point forward.
Should my student take Running Start?
It depends entirely on your student's goals, target colleges, and learning style. Running Start is a real advantage for some students and a complication for others. We help your family weigh it honestly and, if it's a fit, structure it to strengthen the eventual application.
Do you work with students at private schools?
Yes. We work with students across public, private, and independent schools throughout the Greater Seattle area, and we tailor our guidance to each school's specific curriculum and course offerings.
Can tutoring or test prep be added later?
Absolutely. Academic planning and instruction work together, but you can begin with either. Many families start with planning and add tutoring or test prep as needs arise — or start with a class and grow into comprehensive counseling.
How is tutoring different from what school already provides?
Our instruction is one-on-one and fully personalized — meeting your student exactly where they are, targeting specific gaps, and building study skills that last. It complements school rather than repeating it.
