About
A scientist's eye for the art of language
Ms. Tiah believes that science has everything to do with English. Across more than twenty years teaching grades PreK–12, she has infused a love of science and systems into the way she helps students unlock the power of language — encouraging them to unravel the mathematics of word roots and the logic behind sensory language, sentence craft, and story construction.
She has taught the full range of English — core and honors, AP Language and AP Literature, College English in the High School, ESL, and Classics — at Henry M. Jackson High School, Bellevue High School, and Bellevue private schools. Her students have flourished under her instruction and gone on to universities ranging from the University of International Business and Economics to the University of Washington. She delights in designing engaging, cross-curricular lessons — science experiments, artistic explorations, questioning strategies, and foundational readings on everything from prisms to myths and alchemy — that help students perform at the collegiate level.
Teaching Philosophy
"All students have meaningful stories to tell in their own voice. My work is to create a safe, inclusive space where they feel comfortable enough to share their ideas — and then to help them shape those ideas with clarity, confidence, and craft."

Beyond the Classroom
A reader, artist & friend to crows
Ms. Tiah has a deep passion for reading and the arts — she keeps her own home library and reads or listens to at least 100 books a year, from The Magic School Bus to Nghi Vo's Mammoths at the Gates. Away from teaching, she makes cosplay costumes, paints in watercolor and acrylic, dances, cooks, and forages. She's also known to feed a loyal group of neighborhood crows their favorite peanuts — and is happily owned by three rescue cats.
A few favorite books: Plato's Apology, Shakespeare's Hamlet, Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash, Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus, Robin Wall Kimmerer's Braiding Sweetgrass, and Leslie Marmon Silko's Ceremony.

About
Background & approach
A full bio goes here — several sentences on the teacher's background, education, teaching experience, and what makes them exceptional. This is where the teacher's story builds trust: where they studied, what they specialize in, notable results, and why they love teaching. Two or three rich paragraphs work well.
A second paragraph can add more depth — teaching style, the kinds of students they connect with, or a memorable success story (with permission).
Teaching Philosophy
"A meaningful quote that captures how this teacher thinks about students, learning, and growth — in their own voice."
